Chairman Reports Progress As Company Enters 60™ Year... RUBBER /^METAJ_£» ETICS TILES 1900-1960 The story of Firestone’s first sixty years is a story of tradition, quality, and progress. From twelve men building buggy tires to the Firestone company of today is a giant step. It all started with the wish of one man—Harvey S. Firestone—to build a genuinely better product. It started with a single factory in Akron, Ohio, and led to 71 plants in 19 countries making more than 12,000 products. It started with rubber supplied by out side sources and led to one of the world’s largest producers of this versatile material. It started with rubber and took Firestone into five additional fields of industrial endeavor; metals, plastics, synthetics, textiles, and chemicals. We at Firestone, working together, con tinually seek new and improved ways to serve the welfare and progress of man kind. This search has led to hundreds of “Firestone Firsts.” At Firestone we have developed great leadership in quality of products and service under the slogan, “Best Today, Still Better Tomorrow.” We intend to continue to follow this slogan as we look to the future.
